Sailing Croatia: A Week of Worksploring on the Adriatic

When one of our Worksploring clients told us they wanted to combine meaningful family time with a bit of remote work, we knew Croatia’s Adriatic coast would be the perfect setting. We arranged a week aboard a private gulet—a classic wooden sailing vessel—so they could explore the islands, savor local cuisine, and keep their professional commitments without sacrificing the exciting freedom of travel.
Each morning began on deck with fresh breakfast, the sea calm and shimmering under the early sun. A little bit of work allowed them to stay on top of business, proof that the right environment can keep us productive yet still feel inspired. By late morning, laptops were closed, and the family was ready for hours of fun in the sun and in the sea.

One of their favorite outings was an e-bike ride through a Croatian national park. Biking past olive groves, wildflowers, and shaded forest paths on a journey ended at a hidden and secluded lagoon with crystal-clear blue water that only the Adriatic offers. It was perfect for an impromptu swim, just floating in the summer sun with nobody in sight.
Onboard, the gulet’s private chef prepared meals that showcased Croatia’s culinary treasures. From steak and freshly caught fish grilled under the stars to handmade pasta paired with local wines, every dish was delightful and memorable. Knowing who to work with makes a big difference, and in this case having the right chef meant every meal was an experience worth savoring.
The beauty of a gulet charter is flexibility. Without ferry schedules to dictate the day, our client was able to hop between some of Croatia’s most spectacular islands—Hvar’s lavender fields, Vis’s quiet coves, and Korčula’s medieval charm—at their own pace. Each morning brought a fresh view of life and of Croatia.
The captain delivered a special treat for our travelers, taking them to a bay near the home of his grandmother, where one afternoon they anchored for snorkeling and paddleboarding. The Adriatic has some of the most beautiful water in the world. It is no wonder Croatia is such a hot spot to visit.

Evenings alternated between quiet nights at anchor and lively visits to fishing villages for dinner at local restaurants. Whether wandering cobblestone streets or stargazing from the deck, the pace was slower, life was good, and yet work was still getting done. The family was together, they were at sea, they were miles from home, they were… Worksploring.
From our perspective, this trip perfectly demonstrated what Worksploring is about: creating space for both professional responsibility and unforgettable life experiences. The gulet became their floating office, dining room, and family retreat all in one.
By the end of the week, our client told us they’d had one of the best weeks of their lives. If you’ve ever wondered whether you can keep your work on track while truly immersing yourself in a destination, our client’s Croatian adventure is proof that it’s possible. That’s the power of Worksploring.
