The best hotel in San Diego is in Rancho Santa Fe
With an opportunity to do some Worksploring in the San Diego area this week, I was fortunate enough to stay at The Inn at Rancho Santa Fe, a one hundred year old hotel that was recently overhauled with perfection.
This hidden gem is nestled amongst San Diego’s rolling hills, citrus groves, and desert landscapes directly across the street from the quaint downtown of Rancho Santa Fe. The Inn at Rancho Santa Fe is an escape to a bygone era. Steeped in vintage luxury, rich history, and time-honored tradition, The Inn has undergone a property-wide renaissance, inviting guests to experience the charm of a simpler time and place where elegance is innate, hospitality is abundant, and the vibrant joy of a sun-soaked Southern California lifestyle is all around.
While San Diego has a number of nice hotels, downtown is a very different vibe than you will find in some of the nicer and more quaint areas in the area. We will be spending some time in La Jolla this week as well, which is one of those nicer areas, and being right on the water is a huge plus. Additionally, Del Mar has some great hotels and is a wonderful area not too far from Rancho Santa Fe. What makes this historic Inn so great, in my opinion, is how this secluded oasis is such an escape from the ordinary. The property, the rooms, the service, and grounds are exceptional.
Dinner at Lilian’s was very impressive, but the Lilian’s Wonderland Dessert was mind blowing. In the photo below you will see chocolate crumb soil, cherry chocolate mousse earth, “mushroom” meringues, chocolate truffle stones, dark chocolate twigs, pistachio cake “moss”
Sitting in the bar, catching up on work and watching NFL games all day is what worksploring is all about. It is also about balancing work with life, and being in California allows us to visit our kids and spend valuable family time together. Hopefully as more and more companies push for RTO, they will consider new ways to give employees the flexibility to combine career growth with personal growth. Employees that are burnt out won’t return to office, they will leave the company. The best companies will find ways to leverage remote work in a variety of forms to improve corporate performance and employee satisfaction. Despite what some c-suites believe, when employees win, everyone wins.
